Have you regained some of the weight you initially lost after gastric bypass surgery? If so, you may be a candidate for Restorative Incisionless Obesity Surgery (ROSE).
Your small pouch and or stoma (opening between the pouch and small intestine) may have stretched out in the years since your original surgery. If this happens, it reduces the feeling of fullness after you eat. Additionally, food will leave the pouch faster if your stoma is enlarged, leaving you feeling hungry sooner.
Due to advances in technology, there is now a way to restore your success with an incisionless surgery! Using new surgical tools, our surgeons create and suture folds into the pouch to reduce its volume and at the stoma to reduce its diameter. The surgeon performs the procedure entirely through the mouth without making any external excisions into the body. The procedure is performed in our endoscopy suite and you will return home the same day.
The benefits of this type of incisionless surgery include:
Less risk than traditional open or laparoscopic surgery
Minimal postoperative pain
Quicker recover time
No scarring
Reduced risk of infection
Who is eligible?
Patients who successfully lost weight initially after gastric bypass surgery and now find themselves regaining weight despite their best efforts. After the initial screening, you will undergo a series of evaluations including nutritional counseling, a full medical exam, and endoscopy to determine if you are a good candidate.
What is the recovery process?
Typically, patients return to normal activity within a few days of their procedure. Your surgeon will provide you with specific instructions during your office visit.
You will be required to follow a post-op procedure nutritional program similar to the regime prescribed following your initial gastric bypass surgery.
